HIGH ALTITUDE TOUR
The excursion starts at an altitude of 1,923 meters at the departure station of the Funivia dell’Etna.
In a modern cable car, you will reach the “Monte Station” at 2,500 meters in just a few minutes (alternatively, the journey can be made by 4×4 bus). The incomparable beauty of the landscape at this altitude can also be enjoyed from the panoramic terrace of the bar, where you can admire the summit craters on one side and gulf of di Catania seafront on the other. From here, using special 4×4 bus, you will reach the maximum altitude allowed by the authorities in the summit area. As required by current regulations, the excursion continues accompanied by Alpine/Volcanological Guides.
Tour with special tracked vehicles (Snowcat) through an enchanted scenery that, under optimal visibility conditions, allows you to lose yourself in the view of a large part of eastern Sicily.
This service is carried out with the assistance of Alpine/Volcanological Guides for a winter adventure at high altitude.
Once you reach the starting station of the cable car at an altitude of 1.923 asl (Nicolosi Etna Sud –Rifugio Sapienza), you will get on board our special 4×4 Off-Road Buses, to the maximum altitude allowed by the competent authorities, currently set at 2,750 meters. The points of interest are the Belvedere overlooking Valle del Bove and the Laghetto Crater (o or Escrivà). Throughout the excursion, you will be accompanied and assisted by Alpine/Volcanological Guides, who will ensure that you enjoy this experience while respecting the current regulations and in complete safety.

Timetable: the excursion takes place only on Tuesdays and Thursdays (depending on weather conditions). You must arrive at the ticket office by 4:30 pm and present the coupon received at the B&B. Departure at 6:00 pm with the 4×4 off-road bus. Return to Rifugio Sapienza square at 8:00 pm.

On the Funivia dell’Etna, you will find an equipped rental for shoes and jackets. Your safety has always been our priority. After each use, every item is washed and sterilised.

From December to March (the exact opening date is communicated based on weather conditions and snowfall), the ski facilities of Funivia dell’Etna in Piano Provenzana – Etna North are open every day with the following timetables: from 08:45 am (first ascent) to 4 pm (last descent 3:45 pm). One blue track and three red tracks.
